Using a leisurely rhythm of teaching and practice, they will lead us into a deeper understanding of Buddhism, Metta and life lessons. Learn why loving-kindness and mindfulness can change your life for the better.
We ask that you bring a simple lunch or purchase one on-site as there will not be a formal lunch break. Practice will continue through lunch with mindful eating. Snacks and drinks will be available.

Sylvia Boorstein has been teaching since 1985 and teaches both vipassana and metta meditation. She is a founding teacher of Spirit Rock Meditation Center and a psychotherapist, wife, mother, and grandmother who is particularly interested in seeing daily life as practice. About John…
John Travis has been a student of Vipassana since 1970. In the eight years he lived in S.E. Asia, he studied intensively with senior teachers of both Theravada and Tibetan traditions. He has taught meditation since 1986, after completing a four-year teacher training with Jack Kornfield at Spirit Rock. John helped establish many groups from California to Indiana and Wyoming. When possible, he continues his six month sabbaticals in India and leads classes and retreats in the Nevada City/Sacramento/Auburn area. John is the resident teacher for Mountain Stream Meditation Center: mtstream.org.
